This is my very first blog adventure. I am currently the Technology Coordinator at Spring Hill Elementary School in Florida. I believe the instructional possibilities of blogging are incredible and plan to begin developing curriculum using this exciting technology.

If there are teachers out there that would like to share what they are doing at the elementary and secondary level, I would love to hear from you!

In my class we use ePals to learn about other countries and cultures.

What countries have you learned about?

We use epals to communicate with each other in the classroom. Some students love to share their thoughts with us the teachers in a more confidential setting. ePals has been the solution for me.Students have friends in Australia right now and they keep an interesting conversation going. They wonder about the kids over there and they have come with some cute and interesting comments. They realized kids do different things in other parts of the world on a more personal way. That is powerful! As a teacher I am also learning a lot about the educational system in Australia and we share resources and ideas with our Australian Teacher. Parents love it because it is secure. I love it because I can monitor every message.
As a trainer and an educator my main concern is the kids learning, understanding, and developing critical thinking through the seamless use of technology and digital tools. I truly and strongly believe students need to use the technology and tools, we as teachers need to facilitate the process, the end Phenomenal! Kids learn and love learning, best of all THEY WANT MORE! Technology integration need to be part of what we do daily not APART. Kids need to use technology on a daily basis and need to create their own projects in order to manipulate the concepts, variables, and facts to construct their knowledge and meaning with their own hands. It is the only way it works!
